About Steve Freeman

Coming off first coaching experience in a professional club setting as the Head Coach of the Reserve Team for Hartford Athletic Football Club (USL Championship). I have been coaching professional, elite amateur senior and youth players since 1995, and have 29 years of head coaching experience. Founded and have been directing the BWP Football Academy since its inception, and I have extensive experience in all age categories from U11 through U23. Also, have 28 years of experience in the field of education/elementary education teacher which I believe is a value-add that I can bring into any professional environment.

This past Spring of 2024, I was the Head Coach of Hartford Athletic Reserve Team, and the team played in the UPSL and USL Academy. In 2022, I was the Head Coach for the USL League 2 - Albany Blackwatch Rush. The average age of of the starting eleven was 19.5, which was one of the youngest in the USL League 2. In 2023, I continued to coach and direct the BWP Football Academy, formerly affiliated with RBNY Academy and former member club of MLS Next, which competed in the USL Academy League.

Originally raised in Tampa, Florida where I played competitively as a youth for Black Watch SC, and played NCAA Division I college soccer for Jim Lennox at Hartwick College. At 19 years old, I began playing professionally for the Albany Alleycats of the USISL, now the USL, and was named captain in our second season. My professional playing career spanned 4 years, and then continued playing in the PDL for the franchise I was a part-owner, the Albany Blackwatch Highlanders. The PDL franchise in the USL would change names to the Albany Admirals which I coached for two seasons. Also, I coached collegiately as a head or assistant coach at the NCAA Division II and III levels for 15 seasons prior to coaching at the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) for the past 10 seasons.
